Senator Clinton:

I have not heard from you since your correspondence dated November 5, 2002. (Which was in reference to my correspondence dated August 26, 2002 (See Attached)). What have been your findings through the FDA? Have you also contacted the EPA (who according to the law are in charge of regulating this section)?

This letter is to update you about what I have been doing since that date. I have created two petitions and have started collecting signatures. While doing this I met a DEC officer who works in conjunction with the DOT officers, he told me that he thought that the State of New York had laws like I was suggesting. After further researching this he could not find any laws other than this sheet (See Attached) that a DOT officer supplied him. As you can see in this sheet there is no mention of Section 5706 (Dedicated Vehicles) to haul our food supply.

If the attached section is the only rules governing the process now, there is no way to protect the American public from being poisoned. This is why it is so important that I have your support for the Letter F on the inspection stickers of America's food trailers to make the idea of a dedicated fleet a reality. To protect the American public is also why it is important that the transportation industry become aware and the DOT need to enforce these other sections of the Transportation Laws such as Section 5706.

Please Respond.

Sincerely,

Charles Lake
